Refunds and shipping

Effective September 22, 2026.

The short version

  • All sales are final, for the printed book, the PDF edition, and seats in groups and at gatherings.
  • If a copy arrives damaged, is defective, or never arrives, I'll replace it. That's a promise, not an exception I'll argue about.
  • The book ships from Gainesville, Georgia, by USPS Media Mail, within three business days. US shipping is a flat $6 per order. Abroad, the rate depends on where you are, and the PDF edition costs nothing to ship.
  • The PDF edition arrives by email within minutes.

Refunds

I'm a one-person shop selling a book I wrote, and I keep the prices honest by keeping the rules simple: all sales are final. Once an order is placed, it isn't refunded or exchanged because you changed your mind, ordered the wrong format, or found it cheaper somewhere else.

Three things are different:

A damaged or defective copy. If the book arrives bent, torn, misprinted or otherwise not as it should be, email joy@colormyworldplease.com within 14 days of delivery with a photo, and I'll send a replacement at no cost. Keep or recycle the damaged copy; you don't need to send it back.

A copy that never arrives. If tracking shows your order hasn't moved or been delivered 10 days after it shipped (or 30 days for an international order), email me and I'll send another or refund you, whichever you prefer. If tracking says "delivered" and you don't have it, check with neighbors and your carrier first, then write to me and we'll work it out.

A problem with the PDF. If the download link doesn't arrive, expired before you used it, or the file won't open, email me and I'll send a fresh link. If the file doesn't work with your screen reader, tell me within 14 days and I'll refund it. Otherwise, a download that has been delivered isn't refunded.

If I make a mistake (sending the wrong item or charging the wrong amount), I fix it at my cost, always.

Groups and gatherings

A seat in a group or at a gathering is also a final sale, with these rules:

  • If I cancel or move a group or a gathering, you get a full refund or a seat at the new dates, your choice.
  • If a group doesn't have enough people to run, I'll tell you at least a week before the first session, and you get a full refund or a seat in another group.
  • If a group has to stop partway, I refund the sessions that didn't happen.
  • If you can't make a group, email me before the first session: you can give your seat to someone else (send me their name) or take what you paid as a credit toward a later group. The credit comes as a code I email you, good for six months.
  • A group stays together for its three or four sessions, so a session you miss isn't refunded or made up on its own.
  • A package is the groups it names, bought together, and each group in it follows the rules above. If I cancel a group that is part of a package, you get back the difference between the package price and the regular price of the groups you keep, or the new dates.
  • A gathering is a single session. A seat you can't use can go to someone else (email me their name before it starts) but isn't refunded or credited; the next gathering is a month away.
  • For the teen group, if a parent's consent isn't in before the first session, the seat is refunded in full.
  • Private-group programs run on a written proposal and agreement, and those documents say what happens with deposits and rescheduling.

If you'd rather dispute a charge

Please write to me first. Almost everything can be sorted out in one email, and it's faster than a card dispute for both of us.

Shipping

Where from: Gainesville, Georgia, USA. I pack and ship every order myself.

How soon: within three business days of your order, usually sooner. Around a launch event or a holiday it may take a few days longer, and I'll say so on the book page when that's coming. If your order is going to be later than that, I'll email you, and you can cancel it for a full refund.

United States: a flat $6 per order, by USPS Media Mail, which takes 2 to 8 days. You'll get a tracking number by email when it ships. PO boxes and military (APO/FPO/DPO) addresses are fine.

Outside the US: the rate is shown at checkout by region, and it's what the postage costs from here, which is more than the book: about $40 to the UK, Ireland or Denmark, about $55 to Australia and about $30 to Canada, by USPS international mail, usually 1 to 4 weeks. If you're outside the US, the PDF edition arrives by email in minutes and costs nothing to ship. Customs duties or import taxes, if your country charges them, are billed to you by your postal service and aren't included in the price.

Several copies for a group or organization: email me for a single invoice and combined shipping rather than ordering one at a time.

A wrong address: if you notice a mistake in your address, email me right away; I can fix it until the order ships. If a parcel comes back to me because the address was wrong or the parcel wasn't collected, I'll re-send it for the cost of postage or refund the book price without the shipping.

The PDF edition

After you buy the PDF edition, an email with a download link arrives within minutes at the address you used. The link works for 24 hours; if it has expired, clicking it sends a fresh one automatically to the same address. If no email arrives, check your spam folder, then write to me. The PDF is for your own use; there's more on that in the terms.

Sales tax

Georgia sales tax is added at checkout where Georgia requires it: today, on orders shipped to a Georgia address and on the PDF edition for Georgia buyers. No tax is added for other states or countries.
